Learning to be Gay in the Legislature: The Gay Agenda

Representative Allison Dahle

Allison Dahle, one of the newest representatives in the North Carolina House of Representatives, has had a variety of different careers. She has served as a community rehabilitation specialist who worked as an advocate to help people with developmental disabilities find gainful employment, a professional theatrical stage manager, and now as a manager in a local law office. She has served on various boards and associations, including the President of Carolina Designers Craftsman Guild, Pullen Memorial Baptist Church, Moms Demand Action, ARC of North Carolina, the Young Adult Institute, Planned Parenthood, and the Women’s March.

In November of 2018, Allison Dahle was elected representative for District 11 in the North Carolina House of Representatives, which covers parts of Cary and parts of Southwest Raleigh. She currently serves on four committees in the State House.

Reresentative Dahle looks forward to working to keep our students safe, respecting our public school teachers, protecting our environment and natural resources, and achieving equality and equal justice for all people in North Carolina. With us she will discus her unlikely journey to become a NC House Member and tell what she will focus on (with help from her friends) to continue the progress that was made in the last election cycle.

A proud Raleigh native, Ms Dahle lives in Raleigh with her wife, Lou, and their two dogs, Ollie and Fritz.
