Our New LGBT Center
Lindsey Lughes has worked in LGBTQ+ advocacy and education for nearly a decade. Her role as an adjunct professor for Temple University teaching aspiring social workers cultural competency was where she first began fine-tuning her messaging around LGBTQ+ identities and the need to advocate for transgender folks in particular. Later, Lindsey became a certified trainer with the Transgender Training Institute and accepted a position with the LGBT Center of Central PA in Harrisburg, PA, as Director of Youth Programs. After a few years in that role, Lindsey transitioned to Director of Training and Education with the same organization.
A North Carolina native, Lindsey jumped at the opportunity when the position of Executive Director at the LGBT Center of Raleigh presented itself. Since June 1, 2019, Lindsey has served as the Director and brings her passion for creating safe spaces for youth and love of education to the role. Her wife and three young children are also thrilled to be back in NC!
