From Bach to Rock
Jim Laing has presented to MRS a couple of times in the past, demonstrating music technology and discussing various styles/genres of music with demos played on the organ and keyboards. For this next meeting, rather than a “demo/talk,” Jim will play some music of various kinds “just for the fun of it” … perhaps some classical, perhaps some show tunes and even some rock’n’roll … and a few other variations/styles. He’ll take requests (from his repertoire of about 1300 or so songs/pieces, available in a list as a PDF file) … singing along is encouraged!
Jim Laing’s entrance into the music world began when he got private organ lessons as a young boy. These evolved into playing piano and electronic keyboards. He began playing in bands in high school and through college, and right up to the present day. Jim’s broad musical repertoire includes classic rock, musicals, jazz, classical, as well as a bit of country and R&B. Join us for a vibrant evening!
