LGBT Center of Raleigh – Renewed

Kori Hennessey
As our speaker for the October 2025 meeting of the Mary Renault Society, we are honored to welcome Kori Hennessey, the Executive Director of the LGBT Center of Raleigh.
Kori will tell us about the renewal of the LGBT Center, the programs and services that are currently being offered, and what the future might hold for the organization.
We’re excited that our meeting will be in the brand-new Center space! That is at 128 East Cabarrus Street Raleigh NC 27601. The building is adjacent to the Lincoln Theater -- just east of it. Kori will be giving us a tour to talk about the different initiatives the Center is working on and why they’re important to our community.
Born and raised in the Midwest, Kori has proudly called North Carolina home since 2011. Before the Center, Kori worked with the autism community in both the school and residential settings. After taking a year living between NC and Pennsylvania during the onset of NC’s notorious HB2, Kori began attending Center programs as a community member needing support. After volunteering regularly, they joined the staff. Kori is now the Center’s first transgender, nonbinary Director. Some of Kori’s favorite things include a good meal, dogs, and their 12-foot skeleton!
The meeting will be on Sunday, October 26, 2025. We will gather at the LGBT Center at 7 p.m., eat a potluck dinner at 7:30, and begin the program at 8.
