The Smart Home
If you are a science fiction fan, you have already read about “smart” homes; in this presentation you will see how well reality has caught up with the sci-fi world. Our presenter, John Bartholdus, has been in the IT field since 1986. Having covered some basics of relevant technology with us in 2019 and in 2020, this time he plans to discuss internet-connected devices, such as lights, plugs, thermostats, and appliances, and what they can add to our lives. The (interactive) subject involves combining all those smart home devices into a home AI service like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri. John also plans to touch on the security and privacy aspects of a smart home ecosystem. Yes, he plans to leave plenty of time for questions.
