2015 NC Gay & Lesbian Film Festival Preview

The July 26 gathering of MRS begins with a pool party at Jack’s (arrive around 4:00 to catch some rays of the sun on the pool). At 6:00 or thereabouts the less waterlogged of us will gear up a grill for dogs ‘n’ burgers. After dinner, our gathering on July 26 begins with a brief anniversary business meeting. Then we will focus on the upcoming 18th Annual Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, to be held at the Carolina Theater in Durham August 14-22, 2015.

The North Carolina Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (NCGLFF) is the second largest gay, lesbian and transgender film festival in the Southeast, attracting thousands of patrons yearly. Since its beginning in 1995, the Festival has featured a diverse array of shorts, documentaries and feature films.

The NCGLFF celebrates a worldwide glimpse of today’s gay and lesbian life, and it helps bring the community together and features entertaining and sophisticated films and filmmaking.

Charlie will peruse the NCGLFF web site with us, tell us a little about the overall structure and diversity of the Festival and how to get tickets. He then give us a look at trailers for several of the longer feature films to be shown at the Festival. Like last year’s festival, this one is just over a week long, with a wide range of films, including plain old comedy and drama as well as camp, horror, and sci fi; over 90 of these are male-oriented. There are also live events and parties. Sorry, Charlie will not tell you anything about the parties.
